The details:

Fundraiser: Halau needs kokua for Merrie Monarch

A fundraiser will be held from 10:30 a.m. this Saturday (Feb. 27) at the ‘Ainahau Showroom of the Sheraton Princess Kai’ulani hotel.
The event, with arts, crafts, hula and Hawaiian entertainment, is a benefit for Kaleo O Laka I Ka Hikina O Ka La, Miss Aloha Hula contestant Delys Recca, and the hula men to raise funds for the 2010 Merrie Monarch Festival this spring in Hilo.
Artisans will convene from 10:30 a.m. to noon, offering Ni’ihau shell and other lei (Mel Lantaka), hala lei (Roy Benham), Polynesian fasions (Teiti Hawai’i), hula art (Kim Taylor Reece), pahu (Etua Tamali’i), Hawaiian quilts (Patricia Lei Murray), Hawaiian fashions (Nake’u Awai), haku silk lei (Mike and Cil Kop), coconut weaving (AJ), and books and Hawaiiana (Native Books and Na Mea Hawai’i).
A show, from noon to 2:30 p.m., will assemble a bevy of Island entertainers, including
Aaron Sala, Kaleo O Laka I Ka Hikina O Ka La with kumu hula Kaleo Trinidad, Nina Keali’iwahamana, Marlene Sai, Na Palapalai, Afatia Thompson, Beverly Noa, Karen Keawehawai’I, Kealoha Mahone with Prolific Unknowns, Gary Aiko, Tihati’s Polynesian performers, Naluhoe with Vicky Hollinger, Kawika McGuire and Joe Recca, Ihilani Miller, Kaleo Del Soul, Ku’uipo Kumukahi and Friends, Ha’alilio Heyer, Clyde Lono, Bernard Kalua, Keoni and Brandon Souza, Jeff Au Hoy, Joe and Shirley Recca, and emcee Kimo Kahoano.
A raffle for a variety of items also will be held.

Music: A von-derful evening of jazz, world, new age

Musician von Baron will perform music from his “Pangaea” and “Souljourner” CDs, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 3 at Gordon Biersch at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
The fare will be a blend of jazz, world and new age music.
Von Baron, a drummer, will be supported by Jeff Peterson on guitar, Mark Tanouye on bass, Rocky Holmes on woodwinds and Dan Del Negro on keyboards.
There is no cover charge.

Music: Duo performs tonight at Brasserie

Duo @ Brasserie Du Vin, from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Feb.24), will feature pianist Satomi Yarimizo and bassist Jon Hawes, at downtown’s Brasserie Du Vin, 1115 Bethel St.
There is no cover charge. Call 545-1115.
Yarimizo also will play March 13 at the Dragon Upstairs.
