‘Five-0’ premiere set for Sept. 24; preview uncertain

It’s official: “Hawaii Five-0,” already in production here for its third season, will premiere at 9 p.m. Sept. 24 (10 p.m. on the Mainland).
CBS made the announcement today.
The eye network will debut its fall season shows the week of Sept. 24; however, “Survivor: Philippines,” will jump the gun, premiering Sept. 19.
So what’s in store for 5-0 3?
Still uncertain: CBS has not yet confirmed the tradition of previewing the season’s first show a week earlier for Hawaii fans; a Sunset on the Beach red carpet tradition has been customary, preceding seasons one and two.
New: Christine Lahti joins the cast in a recurring role as Doris McGarrett, mother of Steve McGarrett.
Returning: The gang, featuring Alex O’Loughlin (McGarrett), Scott Caan (Danno Williams), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly) and Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua).
Reflection: Season three’s blessing (for good luck, Hawaiian style), was somewhat lackluster this past Monday (July 9) at Manoa District Park. Wind and rain stole the thunder, an umbrella went askew, and the fawning live coverage (“exclusive!”) Hawaii News Now coverage was, um, embarrassing. If this was a back-to-work call, why wasn’t Caan, the best actor of the series, not present? And why wasn’t Park involved in the roll call? (OK, she was there, somewhat belatedly). Very irregular...but O'Loughlin looked fit and rested, following his unexpected health issues prior to the season two windup.
Are you anticipating the new slate of shows? Why, or why not?

Oh Yes - can't wait for Season 3 to start but just hope there will be more locals in this season's shows. Let's hope that CBS can compete OK and come out on top in the Monday night time slot.
