With Danno’s reliable silver Camaro blown up in the fourth season’s premiere of “Hawaii Five-0” last week, he’ll get to tool around with McGarrett in a new black five-speed replacement, pictured at left, hereon out.
Chevrolet provides the wheels for the CBS series and star Alex O’Loughlin told TV Guide the replacement Camaro was “a better one...a faster one.”
“It’s a bad bitch, man,” he was quoted. “I’ve gotten it sideways a few times....it’s pretty amazing.”
The problem: it’s a stick shift and Scott Caan, McG’s partner in the ongoing carguments while racing to and from crime scenes, can’t smoothly operate a stick shift. Or, as O’Loughlin said: “I’m not ready to let him drive it because he’s not responsible.”
The ribbing goes on: “He rides the clutch. He grinds the gears. It’s like, if he would just get a little humble and just ask me, I’ll teach him how to drive it. And when he does, I’ll give him the keys.”
Caan has been mum, so far.
So let’s see who’s behind the steering wheel in the upcoming episodes. We’ll watch, too, when Caan is in the driver’s seat and see if the Camaro jolts and jiggles, since he’s not familiar with a five-speeder.
