This just out:

CBS is posting across-the-board Friday growth led by the 9 to 11 p.m. combo of procedurals (8 to 10 p.m. in Hawaii) of Island-filmed “Hawaii Five-0” and New York-based “Blue Bloods.”

According to Neilsen TV ratings for the first three weeks of the back-to-back shows, there’s evident boost in the numbers:

• “Hawaii Five-0” is up 27 per cent, compared to last year, with 10.54 million vs. 8.28 million viewers for its new time slot, with a 64 pct boost in the coveted adults 18 to 49 demos — 1.8 rating, compared to 1.1. There’s an uptick, too, of 653 pct in adults 25 to 54, a 2.6 rating from 1.6. The network reports a 14 pct growth in total Friday viewers, compared to its Monday average last week, winning its time slot now.

• “Blue Bloods,” which follows “Five-0,” also is posting year-to-year increases of 8 pct in viewership (12.40 million now, from 11.44 million last year) and 13 pct up in adults 18 to 49, with 1.8 rating vs. 1.6. In adults 25 to 54, “Blue Boods” is posting a 2.6 rating compared to a 2.4 a year ago.

The overall gains on Friday, which includes “Undercover Boss” earlier in the evening, reflects a 9 pct growth (10.39 million, from 9.57 million) in viewership, 21 pct growth in adults 18 to 49 (1.7 rating now, from 1.4) and 25 pct growth in adults 25 to 54fiveoblood

Where did CBS (this is a CBS news release) come up with a 1.8 demo for H50 and BB? Here was last Friday's FINAL ratings:

    http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/10/14/friday-final-tv-ratings-hawaii-five-0-dateline-adjusted-up/208840/

H50 was a 1.5 and BB is a 1.4 so how did they come up with a 1.8 demo for both???

And Shark Tank is winning the time slot, not H50. And of course Grimm still isn't there; or the comedies on FOX.

    Here is the week before:

    http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/10/07/friday-final-tv-ratings-shark-tank-dateline-adjusted-up/207219/

    (H50 1.5 and BB a 1.4)

And the week before (premiere week):

    http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/09/30/friday-final-tv-ratings-hawaii-five-0-shark-tank-2020-adjusted-down/205618/

    (H50 a 1.6 and BB a 1.7)

AND of course the 25-58 demo and total viewership means NOTHING to a show's renewal chances.
Looking at what I just posted, H50 and BB DROPPED from premiere weeks demos of 1.6 and 1.7 respectively to 1.5 and 1..4 respectively.

Well, CBS , talk about trying to spin the numbers. LOL

    3 twists of the info:
    1) CBS cleverly says H50 is winning its time slot and it is BUT only for number of viewers which means nothing. It is losing to ST in what really counts; the 18-49 demo
    2) I don't know where they get an average of 1.8 for the shows when neither show ever reached 1.8 in the demo.
3)Outside of the 18-49 demo; all the other info is irrelevant to the shows renewal; the 25-54 demo and #of viewers.

    I love their propaganda. LOL

Because of all the links, my previous post says my comment is awaiting moderation. So I am going to repost the info in separate posts.

Just saw a post on TVbythenumbers where they explain about the 1.8. They are including the DVR numbers! HAHA Those don't count for anything.

  6. AniMatsuri:

Most network Press Releases amounts to propaganda. ABC actually is only doing a little better than NBC. But, as you probably know by now how creative their PR writers are, if all you go by is what they put out, even their weakest shows are making great strides.

I want to hear the spin for the beating that The Mentalist and The Good Wife took last Sunday when everyone figured those shows have seen the worst as far as competition is concerned.

  7. FansAreTooDefensive:

    Me,too, Ani! Should be interesting!

  8. Pammie:

    Haaaa!
    This is hilarious.
Well CBS should have a serious talk with advertisers. After what I just read CBS should not allow them to only pay $55,000 for H50. LOL

    FansAreTooDefensive aka Lucia,

Are you even aware that you're here talking to yourself? Scary.

  10. Belle:

Nice to meet your new sockpuppet "Pammie", Lucia. *eyeroll*
